How your money gets from home to
a Vietnamese shop
Three steps, one simple idea: you hold digital dollars and pay a licensed partner who pays merchants in đồng (VND) for you.

USDC in your wallet
Onramp Partner
You pay by Card/Bank
You fund your wallet through an onramp
First, your money moves to a licensed onramp[1] partner: you pay with your normal card or bank transfer, exactly like an online purchase, and the partner receives your local money.
Then the partner sends the same value back to you as USDC[2] (digital dollars), deposited straight into your own wallet[3] that only you control.

Wallets:MetaMask, Trust,...
Prism Wallet
Skip the onramp, send crypto in directly
If you already own USDC[2], there's no onramp needed. Just withdraw it from an exchange like Binance, Coinbase, or OKX, or send it from another wallet like MetaMask, Trust, or Phantom, to your Prism wallet address.
Make sure you send on the Base network.

You scan to see who you're paying.
At the counter you point your phone at the shop's VietQR[4] code, the standard QR you'll see almost everywhere in Vietnam. Prism reads it and shows you exactly who you're paying, their bank, account number, and name.

You pay dollars
A partner converts and pays the shop.
Once you've checked the merchant's name, entered the correct amount, and authorized the transfer, your digital dollars (USDC[2]) are sent to a licensed payment partner[5].
They swap the dollars for đồng[6] (VND) at the live rate and pay the shop's bank on your behalf.
You spent digital dollars, the shop received đồng (VND), and you never dealt with their bank or currency yourself.
What the words mean
[1] Onramp
An onramp is a licensed business that turns your everyday money into digital dollars. You pay it the way you'd pay any online store, with your debit/credit card or a bank transfer, and it sends the matching amount of USDC to your Prism wallet.
Prism supports onramps in 70+ countries, so most people can top up in their own currency.
[2] USDC
USDC is a digital dollar, a type of "stablecoin." Every 1 USDC is backed 1:1 by a real US dollar held in reserve by a regulated company, so it's always worth exactly $1. Unlike Bitcoin, it does not go up and down in value.
Because it lives on the internet instead of inside one bank, it can move between people and businesses in seconds, at almost no cost, anywhere in the world. Your Prism balance is simply USDC, that's what "digital dollars" means throughout this page.
[3] Your own wallet
Your dollars sit in a wallet that only you control, not in a Prism bank account. This is called self-custody. It means no one, not Prism, not a bank, can freeze, borrow, or move your money without you.
You don't have to manage anything technical to get this safety. Prism secures your wallet with your normal login and your phone, so there are no passwords or secret "seed phrases" to write down or lose.
[4] VietQR
VietQR is Vietnam's national payment QR standard. You'll see it on a sticker at the counter, printed on a bill, or on the seller's phone, in cafes, markets, taxis, almost everywhere.
The QR code simply contains the merchant's bank and account details. Scanning it lets Prism know who to pay, so you can settle a bill without cash and without a Vietnamese bank account of your own.
[5] Licensed payment partner
A licensed payment partner is a regulated company that receives your digital dollars, converts them to đồng (VND) at the live exchange rate, and pays the merchant’s bank on your behalf.
[6] Đồng (VND)
Đồng, written VND or ₫, is Vietnam's local currency. Merchants there are paid in đồng. With Prism you keep your balance in dollars and only convert to đồng at the exact moment you pay.
Hold dollars.
Spend local.
Prism is not a bank, and does not hold customer deposits. You retain custody of your keys and funds at all times. Fiat off-ramp and services are provided by regulated partners in their respective jurisdictions, subject to applicable KYC, AML, and sanctions requirements.
